According to two Belgian newspapers on Monday, former world number one Justine Henin will announce her return to the women’s tour after a 16-month retirement.
After the stunning comeback of fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters, it seemed only a matter of time before Henin realized that there was some tennis left in that tiny body of hers.
Could Henin challenge for the Australian Open? Hard to say since we don’t know if she’s been training at all but it’s possible she could be in shape by January.
With so many players coming back to the game, it makes you wonder who could be next to say “I’m Back”! Lindsay Davenport, who just gave birth to a second child and was recently doing commentary for the Tennis Channel has not officially said if she is done or not. Once in a while news floats up that Jennifer Capriati might return. And then there’s Mary Pierce who despite her knee issues has stated she has no wish to retire.
