Henin to Return? Her Coach Doesn’t Think So. Yet.

In the latest bit of pre-Open news that actually has something to do with tennis, an article in the Belgian newspaper Vers L’Avenir states that Justine Henin’s camp says the former world number one is training extra hard for upcoming exhibitions in the fall and is pondering a return to the game next year.

When asked about it, Henin’s longtime coach Carlos Rodriguez seemed doubtful.

“I’m not sure that a return to competition is expected today. I’m very surprised. Nothing moves me to say that this is one of her intentions.”

Henin has to be at least impressed by fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters comeback this summer that’s earned her a wildcard into next week’s U.S. Open.

Henin won the U.S. Open in 2003 and 2007.
