Legg Mason – Roddick, Fernandez, Isner and more!

Thanks to ESPN360.com, I was able to watch Andy Roddick’s quarterfinal match against Ivo Karlovic. As expected, Roddick won in two tiebreaks. Though this match was not the serving exhibition everyone expected as both players broke serve in each set. Roddick was able to use his new found serve and volley game to pressure Karlovic on some big points and I think that was the difference.

Next up for Roddick is American John Isner who survived a three-setter with eighth seed Tomas Berdych. Isner won 6-3 6-7(10) 6-2. Isner is having a good summer and always plays well in D.C., but Isner is a lesser version of Karlovic and I expect Roddick to get through to the finals.

In the other semi, Juan Martin Del Potro will take on Fernando Gonzalez who is coming back from a slight knee injury. Gonzalez leads 3-0 against Del Potro head to head. For some reason I favor Gonzalez in this. You never know with him. He can beat anybody in the world or lose love and love depending on his mood. We’ll find out.
