Robby Ginepri, in a very mild upset, defeated Sam Querrey, 6-2, 6-4, to win his third career ATP title.
Ginepri is one of those players who was briefly touted as America’s next great hope. But injuries and and a rising crop of other talented Americans like Querrey and John Isner, have pushed Ginepri off the radar.
Having gotten to the quarters of the French Open last year, it’s certainly within his reach to get back into the top 25 of the game.
As for Querrey, this is his second runner-up finish in a tournament, having lost at Newport a few weeks ago. Look for Querrey to make a good run at the U.S. Open.
