Despite the U.S Men’s Davis Cup team losing to Croatia this weekend, some positive news for American tennis did emerge from the Newport grass tournament with Rajeev Ram winning his first ATP title over fellow American Sam Querrey 6-7 (3-7) 7-5 6-3.
What does this mean for American tennis. Probably not much. Although it is encouraging to see Sam Querrey continue to play well and Ram win his first title, they would still need to challenge or at least go deep at the U.S. Open to suggest that their careers are on a permanent rise.
But let’s hope so.
